WHAT IS ENCOUNTERS?
Encounters is a 40-minute animated concert for young audiences. At its center: a newly commissioned animated ballet by composer Samuel Adams and animator Amanda Bonaiuto. Around it, a curated program of landmark animation and orchestral repertoire introduces the wide expressive range of orchestral music across time.
WHY ENCOUNTERS?
Encounters meets young audiences where their imaginations live — in image, story, and sound. Hand-drawn animation and orchestral music share a century of intertwined history, and Encounters carries that tradition into the 21st century. A first encounter with the orchestra that feels fun, phantasmagorical, and genuinely alive!
